The challenge
Youth engagement and leadership development are critical, yet often underserved. We recognized the need for a platform where students could voice their opinions, take ownership, and drive positive change in their community.
Our approach and student experience
From October 2025 to March 2026, we facilitated monthly meetings, culminating in the Gloucester County Teen Summit on March 27, 2026. This journey empowered students to lead, collaborate, and bring their collective vision to life. As one student reflected, "Mr. Mills was our moderator. He led our icebreakers, kept us organized, and consistently encouraged people to step into leadership." Another shared, "When he said that, I was like… maybe I have to play a bigger role in this and that I can do it… I decided to do that and it felt really good.” Our students embraced ownership, fostering an environment where "all of our ideas were morphing into one… our presentation came together very quickly."
